BEFORE & AFTER : COASTAL CASUAL GUEST ROOM

I wanted to share this before & after of this wonderful coastal casual guest room in the Chicago area. We are designing other rooms in her home as well so this is the start of a before & after series - Coastal Casual Haus!

Diving right in, here is the before photo of this room! Feeling a little dark and needing some love, right?

This guest room is a small space but able to house all the essentials - enough for a queen bed, one night stand and one table lamp. However, despite the small space, the finished result is light, bright, and wonderful. Ready for all the guests year round! OK, No more holding your breath.. Here it is!!!

My client knew she wanted some kind of wallpaper and a costal looking headboard. She was eyeing the Palmetto Wallpaper in Bone from Serena & Lily. I loved this too and knew we had to go for it. So glad we did!!! It's perfect in every way. The Riley Rattan headboard is from Joss & Main - Very affordable, Great quality and a beautiful natural focal point for the room.

We went with this white nightstand from Wayfair (Similar) and jazzed it up by switching out the pull. This is something I love to do to make an affordable piece from a big box store feel more customized. The pull is from Anthropologie called the Tuva Knob.  I love how the brass ties in with the Circa Lighting Nina Table Tamp, but doesn't feel too matchy-matchy.

Bedding - You can never go wrong with classic white bedding. We went with the White Trio set from Pine Cone Hill - One of my favorite go-to bedding sources. I love to add a bit of contrast to the bedding so we added this Samson Textured Navy Throw to the end of the bed.

I'll be the first to admit - I am a neutral lover... But I consider blues and greens to be a neutral!!  I tied this in with some Etsy blue and white stripe pillows in a 22x22 and a designer Zak and Fox lumbar pillow in a 14x20 that brings the space to life.

Art is something I can look at and be tempted to buy it all - all day, every day. For this costal casual space, we went with this black and white vintage Surfer Print from Anewall and framed it in a classic, simple white frame with Framebridge. The scallop flush mount is a stylish subtle fixture from Shades of Light

I'd love to hear your comments!! Post coming soon about some of my favorite guest room essentials to refresh your space to be ready for any planned or last minute visitors!!
